What is the difference between a co-op and an internship?

The work placement programs we arrange are known as co-ops which are different than internships. Internships usually refer to a one-term work assignment that can be full or part time, paid or unpaid depending on the position. Co-ops on the other hand refer to multiple paid full-time work terms with the same employer. Co-op students will typically have three work terms alternating with their school terms so it would take them five years to complete their degrees rather than four.
